WASTE MANAGEMENT

EU Standards

DDR Vessels is the only Spanish yard registered in the "European List of Ship Recycling Facilities".

From 1 January 2019, the European Union has made it mandatory for all vessels, both EU flagged and transnational, to be dismantled at the end of their useful life, in an industrial yard specialising in managing maritime waste, in order to help preserve and regenerate the marine environment.

DDR Vessels is the only yard in Spain licensed to dismantle ships of over 500 GT and the only facility in Spain registered in the European List of Ship Recycling Facilities.

Environment

Responsibility, Safety and Sustainability

At the end of its useful life, a ship becomes hazardous waste that must be treated as such, and therefore needs proper processing in the correct facility which can dismantle it responsibly, safely and with regard to sustainability.
