Vida Útil
Useful Life
At the end of its useful life, a ship becomes hazardous waste that must be treated as such, and therefore needs proper processing in the correct facility which can dismantle it responsibly, safely and with regard to sustainability.
From 1 January 2019, the European Union has made it mandatory that all vessels, both EU flagged and transnational, to be dismantled at the end of their useful life, in a facility managing maritime waste, in order to help preserve and regenerate the marine environment.
DDR Vessels complies with all Spanish and EU regulations and is the only ship breaking yard in Spain for ships of over 500 GT, and the only Spanish yard registered in the “European List of Ship Recycling Facilities”.
